For my daughter’s first birthday we had a ladybug party theme. I thought I would share some photos incase anyone else out there is having a ladybug party…definitely a classic!

First up was Emma’s attire (of course). I made her the ladybug tunic using the Norah pattern by Mouse House Creations. I’ve had my eye on this pattern for a while (stay tuned for Christmas dresses in this pattern) and a tunic with tights was a perfect option for a one year old who loves to move around and play! The fabric is from the Urban Zoologie line by Ann Kelle. I was happy to find this fabric locally from Veronica’s Sewing Supplies in Kindersley. I made Emma’s headband using Girl Charlee knits (such great quality) and they are now available in my Etsy Shop here. Or you can find them here in a three pack with white and grey.

Next up was the goodie bags. I wanted to have something that people would hopefully use again and that was age appropriate, so we went with re-usable snack bags. And since I was making them, I used the ladybug fabric with PUL on the inside so they are waterproof and wipeable. Of course I had to add in a couple boy patterned ones for the guys.

We used ours the other day it it was perfect for putting Emma’s snacks in inside my purse. No more loose snacks getting lost in the bottom of my bag! Now I think I just need to make one for myself.

Next was dessert! That was easy, red velvet ladybug cupcakes! And my mothers amazing icing recipe, with plenty of crisco…say no more! I made regular size and bite size.

Did you notice her bib? Its ladybug camouflage! I made it from the same fabric, but in a laminated cotton. It is waterproof and BPA free. We love these bibs so much because they do up with snaps at the back so no baby can pull them off, they are easily washable and wipeable and they have a pocket for collecting all the extras. I’m currently sold out, but will be adding more of these to my shop soon. The laminated cotton was purchased from another Etsy shop: Laminates.

Now that dessert is settled, check out some of the snacks. Bugs on a log made with celery, peanut butter and raisons and lady bug babybels drawn with edible markers. Both easy peasy. The kind of snacks all moms love to make!

Now that the food is settled, time to party!

Emma had such a blast playing with her friends and family and she was spoiled by everyone, thank you!
