Did you catch last week’s update? I’ve started renovating my office (UPSTAIRS)! I’m doing this renovation as part of the ORC because I hate to miss a deadline so it 100% holds me accountable!

FYI, ORC = One Room Challenge, you’ll see this acronym a lot over the next 8 weeks!

Click HERE for a recap of the Spring 2022 ORC Workshop Renovation and HERE for a recap of the Fall 2022 ORC Basement Living Room Renovation.

First, let’s talk about what the One Room Challenge is. Have you heard of it? It’s a biannual event that is held every spring and fall. Anyone with a blog, Instagram or TikTok account is welcome to join the fun. It goes over 8 weeks and each week you share an update on on our room. It’s a fun way to connect with other like minded people and be able to encourage each other through all the ups and downs of renovating! I highly encourage you to check out all the other participants HERE.

Week 2 One Room Challenge Progress

The goal for this week was to complete all the paint prep. I filled A LOT of holes and had people questioning why so many holes and commenting on my drywall capabilities. It was a good reminder for myself that 1. not everyone does things the same and 2. that’s okay.

There were a ton of holes in the walls from past picture frames, pin holes, there were also LOTS of dents and scratches in the drywall that needed repair AND the past people who painted did a really crappy job! There were blobs of paint, which when scraped off, left holes. I filled all those too. These little things may not be important to you and thats okay! For me, I did try really hard to take my time and do the best job I could because that’s important to me.

Did I finish all the painting prep work? No haha. I finished filling the holes, next up is sanding!

Keep following along to see where we get to next week! I’m really hoping to complete the painting, but it’s going to take several coats. How many coats do you think it will take to get from purple to white?
